2019 ARPCT Annual Conference Recap
The annual ARPCT conference was held at the beautiful Hilton Bonnet Creek in Orlando, Florida in conjunction with the 20th annual Skillsoft conference. Perspectives 2019 was held from April 15–17, 2019. It was wonderful to welcome Mei Lin and Scott Ford, Co-CEOs of ANB Services in Phoenix, Arizona as the 2019 ARPCT travel stipend winners!
Day one of the Perspectives 2019 conference was filled with great workshops and a fun evening welcome reception. Ronald Hovsepian Skillsoft Executive Chairman, kicked off day two with a keynote address emphasizing relationships and the key challenges for organizations. He highlighted how Skillsoft’s focus in L&D to advance content will help ensure growth, security, and compliance. Two additional outstanding keynotes from the conference:
- Daniel Pink, New York Times bestselling author, presented “The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing” — on how timing really is a science and a tool to make smarter decisions, enhance productivity, and boost business performance.
- The closing keynote panel “Enabling Diversity & Inclusion in the Modern Workplace” included diversity and inclusion thought leaders Jennifer Brown, Stacey Gordon and Su Joun speaking about how diversity aids in business performance and retention and what true inclusion demands of individuals and organizations.
At the ARPCT project sharing session, the attending programs continued the tradition of sharing their successes and challenges. Members were given valuable information to bring back to their organizations to share with staff. This included updates on new training programs, the impact of funding, Skillsoft updates, membership involvement, and CARF updates.
During the annual business meeting, updates were given about the Board’s strategic plan (focuses on membership engagement, communication, and the partnership with Skillsoft) and current membership as well as a financial report from the Treasurer. The upcoming distribution of an annual report and notice of amended Bylaws was announced. An election of board officers was conducted with multiple members remaining in their positions. Please see the Board page for the list of current Board and committee members.
The ARPCT Outstanding Achievement award for Business Partner of the Year was given to Apex Services of San Diego for its support and partnership with Able-Disabled Advocacy. A congratulatory letter and certificates were mailed to Apex Services after the conference.
