Minnesota Resource Center 1900 Chicago Avenue Website: www.mrc-mn.org Contact: Eric Hughbanks, Director Contact: Lena Balk, Training Services Manager MRC, The Minnesota Resource Center, provides vocational opportunities for people with disabilities, people who are economically disadvantaged, and others who face special challenges. MRC offers a full range of services including Vocational Evaluation, Training, Placement and Employment Retention. In the year 2002 MRC served a total number of 1,078 individuals. Of those individuals, 489 started one or more computer training classes. Eighty-four percent of those who started a class completed it successfully. An additional 126 consumers received one to one computer training. MRC’s Training Services Program offers training in the following areas: Information Technology, Office Technology, Warehouse Operations, Maintenance/Custodial, One to One Customized Training and Adaptive Software. The following courses are currently being offered at MRC: Courses at MRC are instructor led and small in size (8-12 students) so students receive a lot of one to one time with an instructor. Tutorial labs are also offered for students currently enrolled in a training course. All training program are registered with the Minnesota Higher Education Services Office, accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement and certified as a training provider under the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA).
